Grape(s): Picpoul blanc
Producer: Cave de l'Ormarine
Where: local Parisian grocery
Near the Étang de Thau in southern France's Languedoc-Roussillon region, Ormarine Cellars grows Picpoul blanc on garrigue covered hillsides. Available in several different cuvées, this everyday version has a zippy lemon-lime acidity that jumps out right away. The rest of the profile is fresh and simple: pineapple, quince and white flowers. It drinks like an appetizer wine but could carry a fish soup or roasted vegetable dish with no problems.
