2017 Côte du Rhône "Emma-Flo"

Grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Carginan

Producer: Domaine de la Chesnay

Where: Welcome Cafe, Rue de Rivoli

Reliable and uncomplicated, this ruby Côte du Rhône comes from the commune of Rochegude in the region's méridional half as exhibited by its lighter style and smooth tannins. Lacking the personality of a more robust (and expensive) Rhône, its basic profile of red fruit with a touch of dried herbs and licorice is agreeable enough as a lunchtime pick. That said, this wine would augment well with foods like lamb, beef stew and tapas.
