Grapes (s): Pinot noir
Producer: Willamette Valley Vineyards
Where: BevMo, Sacramento, California
Displaying one of the most technically detailed labels I've ever seen, this bottle actually listed peak drink dates.
The crimson-colored wine was made with uncrushed Pinot noir fermented in a style thought to maintain the natural fruity flavors that can sometimes get downplayed by Pinot's classically earthy side.
I found it had a pretty good overall complexity: freshly potted purple flowers and dried red petals. The floral notes are complimented by minor green twig aromas. Stewed red fruit, fig, vanilla and cinnamon also appear as well as a noteworthy 14.1% alcohol level. With the acidity to pull it off, this would be my Thanksgiving pick.
